how long does it take for 1400 mg vitamin d3 supplement take to completely leave your body?

Q. doctor asked me to stop taking vitamin d3. after i stop taking it how long will it take to leave your system completely?

A. A little over 6 hours for someone that is 150# - have you had your vitD levels checked?
Order the Correct Test. There are two vitamin D tests -- 1,25(OH)D and 25(OH)D.
25(OH)D also called 25 hydroxy is the better marker of overall D status.
25(OH)D test level should be between 5080 ng/ml (125200 nmol/L), summer and winter

Current recommendations from researchers are for 35iu per pound - a 150# person needs minimum of 5250iu per day & the rda is 400iu. This amount is for minimal needs and does not replenish depleted stores.

Research published by Grassroots Health from the D*Action study shows that 97.5% of the adult population needs to take 9,600 IU's of vitamin D per day in order to elevate their levels above 40ng/ml, which they believe is the absolute minimum for disease prevention.

Vitamin D3 deficiency has become an epidemic, probably because people are washing daily. If you wash skin exposed to the sun within 48 hours, you wash off the oils where the vitamin D production starts. In northern latitudes (above that of Atlanta, Georgia) the sun is at too low an angle for half the year to provide sufficient UV radiation. If even available, UVB rays are only accessible while the sun is directly overhead. Most people need to take vitamin D, especially seniors, as the ability to synthesize vitamin D in the skin declines with age.

With exposure to sunlight in the summer, the body can generate up to 20,000iu of vitamin D per hour with no ill effects. In addition, no adverse effects have been seen with supplemental vitamin D intakes up to 10,000 IU daily.

Vitamin D3 is not a vitamin at all but a necessary hormone that effects the immune system, bones & nearly every aspect of health. Having low Vitamin D levels greatly increases risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, MS & being deficient can create or greatly exacerbate health problems. Many researchers claim that optimized vitamin D levels are more effective than a flu shot in preventing viral infections.

Always take your vitamin D with a fat-containing meal to ensure absorption.

The prescription vitamin D supplements are the wrong type (ergocalciferol - vitamin D2). As warned by the National Institute of Health -

Luckily you can buy vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) over the counter and the upper limits are extremely high. U.S. RDA are much too low.

I also highly recommend a low carb way of eating for optimal health.

Your vitamin D level should never be below 32 ng/ml, and any levels below 20 ng/ml are considered serious deficiency states, increasing your risk of as many as 16 different cancers and autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis, just to name a few.

They found that the body does not reliably begin storing cholecalciferol in fat and muscle tissue until 25(OH)D levels get above 50 ng/ml (125 nmol/L). That is, at levels below 50 ng/ml (125 nmol/L), the body uses up vitamin D as fast as you can make it, or take it, indicating chronic substrate starvationnot a good thing. 25(OH)D levels should be between 5080 ng/ml (125200 nmol/L), year-round.

Vitamin D deficiency may contribute to the wide set of disorders associated with metabolic syndrome (syndrome X), as well as to PCOS. In a study published in 2004, the authors saw a 60% improvement in insulin sensitivity in healthy, vitamin D replete adults

Dr. Joe Prendergast, an endocrinologist /diabetologist has managed over 1500 diabetic patients and, in the last decade, not one of his patients has had a stroke or heart attack. Only one has even been hospitalized! His secret50,000 units of Vitamin D3 daily. Dr. Joe further reports:

* Cure of
multiple sclerosis
amotrophic lateral sclerosis
mental disorders

* Reversal of
advanced coronary disease
advanced lung disease
osteoporosis

* Regression of rheumatoid arthritis

* Control of many cancers

* Hashimotos hyperthyroidism

In summary, the evidence for safety and remarkable efficacy of Vitamin D3 suggests that virtually ALL adults should probably take 50,000 units of D3 daily. This is certainly true for those with virtually any illness.

Can Tiredness, pain in the legs, irritability be symptoms of VITAMIN D3 deficiency?
Q. I've had a blood test and my Vitamin D3 levels are low (7.6). I am tired thru the day, my legs / arms have a very tired pain and i'm quite irritable. I was wondering if these are the symptoms of a Vit D3 deficiency? My other blood tests are all normal!
thanks in advance!

A. It could be but it could also be Restless Leg Syndrome. I have RLS and there are nights I think my legs want to go dancing and I am tired too. I am taking a prescription drug but I don't know the English word for it (I only know the Swedish word). Here's what I would do, talk to your doctor again and if you have to, explain again that your tired and your legs and arms hurt. If that doesn't work go to a second doctor. Restless Leg Syndrome can keep you awake at night which is why a person with it is tired. With Restless Legs it is not for certain why the legs what to do this uncontrolable jerking. There could be many causes and one of them is poor circulation. Please talk to your doctor again. If you have a vitamin deficiency than the doctor should tell you what to do for it. I hope this helps.

How soon do you feel the effects of vitamin D?
Q. I have a vitamin D deficiency and have been prescribed 50,000 units of vitamin D twice a week. Will there be any immediate effects when I start taking it? Or do you just start to feel better gradually?

A. The prescription vitamin D supplements are the wrong type (ergocalciferol ). As warned by the National Institute of Health -

March is when stores are at their lowest.

This is the cheapest D3 I've found - $10 for 1,800,000iu & would be best for high dosage use. I recommend using this with saturated fats to maximize absorption into the body structure.

This is the form I recommend but can be expensive at high doses, it includes saturated fat as a base.

Vitamin D3 deficiency is becoming an epidemic. U.S. RDA are much too low. It is possible that upper atmosphere pollution is blocking the needed UVB light from the sun.

I have Fibromyalgia -Vitamin D3 supplementation has cleared the constant muscle pain. I did high levels for 3 weeks & was pain free. I knocked the dose down to 2000iu's a day & a week later the pain was back. After restarting high levels, the pain is managed again after 3 days.

I personally did 35,000iu per day for 2 months trying to refill my stores. It is highly recommended that you have your vit.D levels tested but my research shows toxicity only at outrageous, long term levels.

I originally did B12 injections daily for a couple of years & then I tried guaifenesin (Dr.St.Amand's protocol) for 10 years but discovered vit.D3 supplementation only recently & that has worked better than anything else!

I also highly recommend a low carb way of eating to allow the body to regenerate rather than degenerate.

Is it normal for a 14 year old to take vitamin D3 pills?
Q. I drink 2 big cups of milk every day and sometimes i add the nesquick powder
I cant leave the house without drinking it
A few days after my blood test my doctor prescribed me vitamin d3 pills saying im lacking vitamin D
btw im white not too white and not too pail
and i live in nyc
Is this normal at my age?

A. Apparently you don't get outside much. If you get at least 15 minutes of sunlight on exposed portions of your skin daily - then you would not have a problem with Vitamin D deficiency. Sitting at a computer a lot or playing video games plus being in school all day does not give you much time to get sunshine. You need to start taking walks or bike riding or roller blading or skateboarding every day. Don't stop taking your Vitamin d3 the doctor told you to take.
