Q. With treatment will a Vitamin D Deficiency ever go away? It's well 9mths and still Im deficient.Does anyone know what 268.9G mean in medical term when it related to a vitamin d deficiency? Just asking?

A. Yes, keep taking the meds--they will help. Vit D deficiency can have severe consequences--its not worth courting them by skipping your meds.

How much is it to get my little turtle treated for swollen eyes?
Q. I noticed last night that one of the two had its eyes swollen, today it got better. They have right temperature, but don't get much sunlight lately cause it's too cloudy. Anyhow, if the swollen eyes come back, I want to try to get it to the vet. How much could this cost to cure it with antibiotics if it's an infection or with vitamin A injection for vitamin deficiency?

A. Before you do anything, try feeding the turtles liver. If the problem is a vitamin A deficiency, that should correct it and continued feeding will prevent recurrence. If the problem is an infection or irritation, try irrigating the eyes with a solution of boric acid. If neither treatment works, call your vet to ask about costs. I trust that you have found a reptile vet.

Why is my hair thick at the top and thin aT the bottom?
Q. It just recently happened, well a couple of weeks ago I suffered from dehydration and some vitamin deficiency, could it be that???..... Yes I iron my hair but not on 400 usually around 300. I also put my hair in ponytails alot but this never happened before so I don't think it's the ponytail. Hellppppp mee!! What can I do to fix this problem?

A. Sounds like you need a good conditioning treatment to strengthen that hair. Vitamin def and dehyd. can definitely affect your hair, and using a very hot flat iron can destroy the ends. I would advise a good light trim and condition treatment from your local salon, and continue to use a good conditioner until you notice a difference in your hair, then only use it a couple times a week.

My fingernails seem to be getting softer and thinner and want to know the reason why?
Q. I have always done the jello thing for stronger nails. What else can I do and also could this be a vitamin deficiency?

A. It could perhaps be a vitamin deficiency but calcium is also needed to keep nails strong so try drinking lots of milk and calcium enriched products. There are also speacial treatments that you can probably get from local nail care specialists that can help your nails become stronger. if you see no improvenet after a few weeks go to your doctor.
