Can mild hand tremors be caused by vitamin B deficiency?

Q. so,I suffer from mild hand tremors that become stronger and more noticeable when I am stressed , nervous or embarrassed. it's becoming really annoying ,I am only 20.

so,can vitamin B deficiency cause these hand tremors since I complain from other symptoms like nervousness and loss of concentration.

A. A lot of studies are showing that a lack of vitamin D can call trouble. Vitamin B deficiency is very rare. On the other hand, you could have essential tremors. This makes your hands tremor and it becomes worse under stress. This needs a neurologist and can be treated with medication.

Can someone help with symptoms of a vitamin deficiency?

Q. Does anyone know what symptoms a Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause? Thanks

A.

anyone know symptoms of vitamin b12 deficiency?
Q. i've been really tired lately and losing weight, i weigh around 99lbs. i used to weigh 125lbs. i get really shakey and need to carry food with me. i get out of breath.and my hair is getting so dry and thin. i've said something to my doctor about the weight and he said you look fine, but i don't think it's normal to lose weight for no reason and i just don't feel well and i look awful too. i know taking medicine for reflux can cause vitamin b12 deficiency and i take nexium for years.

A. Sudden unexplained weight loss should always be investigated to find out the cause, especially if you also feel tired and shaky. Your doctor will want to check you for diabetes, overactive thyroid gland, hidden infections, and other causes of weight loss. He or she will probably arrange blood tests and a chest x-ray. Don't put off going - the sooner the cause is found, the sooner you can be treated and on the way to recovery.

Sometimes weight loss can be a sign of a depressive illness, and your doctor will want to know how you are feeling emotionally. In the meantime, try to eat a healthy diet. It can help to keep a food diary for a few days to see exactly what you are eating. Healthy between-meal-snacks such as fruit, muesli, smoked salmon sandwiches, and cheese can help you put on weight. High-carb foods such as rice, pasta and bread are also a good idea. good luck

i've had symptoms of vitamin b12 deficiency for two years, does it mean that now i have permanent nerve damage?
Q. because some people told me that if a vitamin b12 deficiency is left untreated for more then 6 months,it will cause some permanent nerve damage, and i have had the symptoms for 2 years now including (chronic insomnia, chronic fatigue, numbness in my fingers and toes, some muscle cramps, and i can feel my heartbeat and also hear it in my ears, and a very itchy scrotum), do you think that now i have some permanent nerve damage?

A. No! Vitamin B12 deficiency or hypocobalaminemia is a low blood level of vitamin
B12, it can cause permanent
damage to nervous tissue
as a long term effect. Vitamin B 12 was discovered from its relationship to the
disease pernicious anemia , which is an autoimmune disease that destroys parietal cells in the stomach that secrete intrinsic factor . Pernicious anemia,
untreated, is usually fatal
within three years. Once
identified, however, it can
be treated successfully and
with relative ease (although it cannot be
cured and continued
treatment is required).
Intrinsic factor is crucial for
the normal absorption of
B12 in amounts that occur in foods, and thus a lack of
intrinsic factor, as seen in
pernicious anemia, causes a
vitamin B 12 deficiency.

Can b12 anemia spread from mother to son?
Q. My mom was diagnosed a few years ago with Vitamin b12 deficiency/anemia. Is it a genetic thing?

A. Maybe not. If U experience any such symptoms, it is curable by Acupressure techniques & Indian Natural Remedies.

Can you donate a kidney and have protein S Dificincey?

Q. Last year my doctor said i may have protein s deficiency. Well now my aunt needs a kidney and i may be able to donate for her, but will the deficiency stop that?

A. It depends on a few different factors. Did something specific lead your doctor to tell you that you might have a Protein S deficiency? Did you have some sort of a blood clot or pulmonary embolism? Did your doctor actually run the tests to see if you really had the deficiency? Is there a family history?

See there are two types of Protein S deficiency-genetic and acquired. Genetic means you would have a family history of it because it is a dominant condition. Acquired protein S deficiency may come from treatment with a blood thinner called warfarin, treatment with sex hormones (estrogen in particular), pregnancy, liver disease, and Vitamin K deficiency because it is needed for Protein S activity/production.

Protein S deficiency usually leads people to get blood clots especially in their legs and lungs. However, if that deficiency is acquired and caused by warfarin or Vitamin K deficiency, this would make you be more likely to bleed.

It's hard to say depending on all these factors if you will be able to donate or not. Your doctors and hers will have to make that decision if you decide to go ahead with it. Generally this is something that can be managed. If it is acquired, it can likely be fixed before you even have surgery. If it is genetic they can take extra precautions while you go through the process to ensure that you don't get a blood clot.

How can I get rid of genetic dark circles around eyes?
Q. So I was doomed to have dark circles around my eyes. its genetic, everyone on my dad's side has them. Does anyone know a cure for them aside from laser treatments.

A. Common Causes of Dark Circles Under Eyes

Thinning skin
The skin under the eyes is thin and delicate to begin with. As we age, skin and the fat pad under the eyes becomes thinner, causing blood vessels to become noticeable. This gives the appearance of dark circles. Sun damage can make it worse because it weakens skin.

Allergies and Hayfever
Dark circles under the eyes can be the result of allergies to airborne substances, such as pollen, dust, and pet dander, because people rub their itchy eyes. People with hayfever may notice them at the height of the season. Food allergies or sensitivities can also contribute to dark circles.

Genetics
Dark circles under the eyes runs in families. They tend to be more noticeable in people with fair skin or deep-set eyes.

Fluid Retention
Blood vessels under the eyes can become dilated and engorged, which can contribute to dark circles. Excess dietary salt and smoking are common causes. Conditions that cause fluid retention (e.g. heart, thyroid, kidney, liver diseases) or medications that cause blood vessel dilation may be a factor. Your doctor should be aware of any symptoms you're experiencing.

Lack of sleep
A lack of sleep can make skin appear more pale, which allows blood vessels to be more visible through the skin, giving the appearance of bluish or dark circles.

Iron Deficiency Anemia
Iron deficiency anemia may cause a bluish tinge below the eyes.

Dehydration
Dark circles under the eyes can be a sign of dehydration.
Remedies for Dark Circles Under the Eyes

There are some home remedies that may help to temporarily diminish the appearance of dark circles under the eyes, and prevent dark circles from worsening.

1. Be sure to drink enough water. Hydration Calculator: How much water do you need?

2. Wear sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 under the eyes to prevent skin weakening caused by sun damage.

3. Get plenty of rest.

4. Apply plain cool teabags over closed eyes. Dont use herbal teabags, because most aren't as effective.

5. Apply cool cucumber slices over closed eyes for 15 minutes.

6. Be careful not to consume too much dietary salt. Start by learning about sources of sodium in the diet.

7. Apply vitamin K cream. Although studies haven't looked at the use of topical vitamin K for dark circles under the eyes, preliminary studies have found that vitamin K may help with bruising.

8. Vitamin C helps to strengthen blood vessel walls. Quiz: Are you getting enough vitamin C?

9. The dietary supplements grape seed extract and pycnogenol contain antioxidant pigments that may help to strengthen blood vessels. They should be used under medical supervision by people on "blood-thinning" drugs such as Coumadin (warfarin) and aspirin.

Certain foods, such as cranberries, blueberries, bilberries, tea (green and black), black currant, onions, legumes, and parsley also contain these antioxidant pigments.

10. Eat kidney-balancing foods. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a bluish cast under the eyes are due to an imbalance in kidney energy.

What are some eye creams/treatments that I should use to prevent dark circles and eye bags?
Q. I'm 22 yrs old. I have eye bags and I don't want them to get any bigger or deeper.

A. to get rid of dark circles:

1. get plenty of sleep nightly. for one thing, lack of sleep tends to cause the skin to become paler (thus increasing the appearance of darkness under the eyes), and it reduces circulation. its also believed that too little time lying down is a cause in itself. determine how much sleep you need (its usually 7-9 hours per night, but varies throughout different people) and try to get that amount regularly for a couple of weeks to see if that helps. remember that alcohol and drugs can adversely affect the quality of your sleep; abstain from these products or use only in moderation for best results.

2. establish whether or not this condition runs in your family. dark circles are believed to frequently be hereditary. this doesnt mean that you cant do anything about the conditions, but you should be prepared for minimal success actually trying to get rid of them. dark circles under the eye may also, in fact, be light carbon deposits that result from incomplete protein digestion. incomplete protein digestion may result from insufficient hydrochloric acid in your stomach that may be caused from a lack of primarily b6 and folic acid. about 30% of the population does not absorb regular b6 (pydroxine) or folic acid and need to take in these vitamins in a different form or another way.

3. identify allergens. allergies may be the most common cause of skin discoloration under the eyes. if allergies are the root of your problem, you simply need to treat them or remove the allergen (the thing to which you are allergic). seasonal allergy problems such as the hay fever can frequently be effectively treated with over-the-counter and prescription medications. for other allergies the best course of action is usually avoidance. if your dark circles or puffiness are constant, you may have an undetected food allergy or an allergy to a chemical in your home or workplace. talk to a dermatologist for help determining what you may be allergic to. people with allergies also tend again to be deficient in b6, folic acid. taking a multivitamin, if you don't already, may help with your allergies as well as black circles.

4. treat your skin while you sleep. there are overnight facial masques available that may help reduce the appearance of puffiness or discoloration, but you can also make your own. just before you go to bed, take a washcloth and wet it just a bit with cold water. then squeeze out any excess water and place it over your eyes as you sleep.

5. apply cool tea bags, an ice cube wrapped in soft cloth, or cucumber slices to your eyes daily. the tannin in tea bags has been shown to reduce swelling and discoloration, and cucumber slices have long been used to reduce puffiness and refresh the appearance of skin around the eyes. lie down, preferably in the morning, and leave fresh cucumber slices or cool, damp caffeinated tea bags (you can refrigerate them overnight so theyll be ready) over your eyes for about 10-15 minutes. keep your eyes closed.

6. try to relax the space. you can do this by wetting a cotton swab and then freezing it for a little while. then you should gently wipe under your eyes in the areas where the circles are occurring. when wiping, close your eyes and try not to flinch.

7. apply an eye cream containing vitamin k and retinol. research has shown that skin creams containing these two ingredients reduce puffiness and discoloration significantly in many patients. long-term daily use seems to have the greatest effect.

8. avoid rubbing your eyes. usually rubbing of the eyes is brought on by allergies, but not always. regardless of the reason, stop doing it. the rubbing irritates the skin and can break tiny capillaries beneath the skin, causing both puffiness and discoloration.

9. eat a healthy, balanced diet and drink plenty of water. a whole host of cosmetic problems can be attributed to vitamin deficiencies. be sure to get plenty of fruits and vegetablesespecially cabbage, spinach, and other leafy green vegetables. get adequate fluids to improve circulation.

10. reduce salt intake. excess salt causes the body to retain water in unusual places, and this can result in puffiness under the eyes. too much salt can also impair your circulation, and cause the blood vessels under the skin to appear bluer.

11. if you smoke- then quit. smoking causes vascular (blood vessel) problems that can not only threaten your life, but also make your blood vessels appear more prominent and bluer beneath the skin.

12. if this doesnt work try covering the problem up with cosmetics. use a yellow or flesh-toned colour which will camouflage the problem under your eyes. mac do the best ones for covering up dark circles although they are a bit expensive. if you are on a budget i would definately reccomend rimmel. good luck

hope this helps

what is the best way to get dark circles out under the eyes?
Q. Im young and have dark circles under my eyes> anybody have any remedies or products that are cheap and are popluar and widley used that work?

A. Hi! Dude. You just worry for dark circle .Don't worry my best friend had same problem but now he looks more charming than before.
I will suggest you both causes and Herbs that remove Dark circle-

It is a known fact that aging causes dark circles under the eyes. This is partly a result of the thinning of the skin which surrounds the eyes and causes the veins to show through. Aging also causes loss of fat and collagen around the eyes, eventually leading to dark circles under the eyes.

Heredity is one of the causes for dark under eye circles. It might be surprising to know, but this problem is sometimes passed on from one generation to another.

The structure of the bones is another cause for dark circles. Deep-set eyes might have a shadowed appearance which resembles under-eyes circles.
Hyperpigmentation is also another reason that might cause dark circles under the eyes. Since the skin around the eyes is very sensitive, too much exposure to the sun might lead to under eye circles; as a result of excess pigmentation.

Certain lifestyle factors, such as stress, lack of sleep, excessive smoking or alcohol consumption, etc might also lead to dark circles.

Certain medical conditions like allergies, asthma, nasal congestion, circulatory problems, vitamin K deficiency, dehydration, nutritional deficiencies, or kidney and liver disorders might also cause dark under eye circles.

Herbs such as parsley, sage, chamomile and mint provide effective treatment for dark under eye circles.

Extract fresh mint juice and gently dab it on the eye area and then allow it to dry.

Mix finely chopped parsley and sage along with two tablespoons of sour cream and then apply this mixture under the eyes. Allow this to stay on for about 20 to 30 minutes.

Cover the eye area using chamomile tea bags that have been soaked in cold water for a couple of minutes. Keep these tea bags over the eyes for around 10 to 15 minutes.

Mix a tablespoon of milk and nutmeg and stir it well. After this, apply the blend to the eye area prior to going to sleep at night. Dont wash off the milk and nutmeg.

Herbal pastes:

Some herbal pastes are very effective in treating under eye circles. All the pastes mentioned below involve the same directions after application. Allow the paste to stay on the eye area for around 20 minutes or until it dries up and then wash it off.

Prepare a paste by combining neem, ginseng, papaya, sandalwood, mint and almond oil.
Make a paste with pineapple juice and turmeric. You could also make a paste from tomato juice, turmeric, lentils, and lemon juice.

A paste made from sandalwood and rosewater is also used for treating dark circles.

These are some herbal remedies for dark patches or circles under the eyes.Use my tips get remove your dark circles. However, it is always better to consult a doctor or dermatologist before using the remedies mentioned above.

How do you treat your psoriasis?

Q. I have tried OTC treatments, and i can't afford to do the RX stuff. Any suggestions for me? I am young, (16+) but my skin is so sensitive. So anything that i can do has to be very gentle with my skin. Thanks
I have severe psoriasis on my right ankle and one spot on my left leg about as big as a half dollar. Mine never seems to diminish and it stays cracked and really bad all the time.

A. Hi Kacey

Here are some ideas on how to heal the issue.

Cause
Psoriasis is metabolic in nature and can be triggered by environmental or stressful conditions, poor diet, flu-like conditions, the administration of penicillin, and nutritional deficiencies. Patients with psoriasis are also a higher risk of rheumatoid diseases.

Psoriasis can be caused by food allergies, essential fatty acid deficiencies, low digestive enzyme and hydrochloric acid levels, vitamin B complex deficiencies, emotional stress, illness, drugs (such as beta-blockers, lithium, and chloroquine), poison ivy or oak, skin damage, and several infections, bacterial or viral in origin.

------------------------------...

Natural Cures

Aromatherapy: The following essential oils are recommended: bergamot (to help heal skin plaques), lavender (to reduce excessive itching), melissa (for irritated skin), jasmine (for dry sensitive skin), geranium (for dry irritating skin), and sandalwood mysore (for dehydrated, inflamed, and sensitive skin).

Diet: Screen for and eliminate all foods to which you are allergic or sensitive. Eat a varied diet of organic, whole foods, rotating foods as much as possible. Eliminate wheat and wheat products for 1-3 months. Consume seafood high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as wild salmon, sardines, mackerel, herring, and each day, on a rotating basis, take one tablespoon of olive or flaxseed oil, and be sure to drink plenty of pure, filtered water. Organic beef, venison, poultry, garlic, onions, parsley, organic plain yogurt, and sauerkraut are also recommended.

Flower Essences: Rescue Remedy Cream® applied topically can soothe symptoms.

Herbs: Combine equal parts of burdock, sarsaparilla, and cleavers tinctures and take one teaspoon three times a day. Silymarin (milk thistle) is also helpful for psoriasis due to its positive effects on liver function.

Homeopathy: Useful homeopathic remedies include Psorinum, Sulfur, Graphites, Cuprum met., and Arsen alb.

Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment. I suggest several at-home hydrotherapy treatments.
*Purified water is essential for any hydrotherapy treatment. Remedies for Treating Chlorinated Bath Water offers clear instructions and recommendations.

Juice Therapy: The following juice combinations can be helpful: apple and carrot; beet, cucumber, and grape; and beet, carrot, burdock, yellowdock and garlic.

Lifestyle: Mild cases of psoriasis may be helped by daily exposure to sunlight. Frequent exercise is also recommended.

Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients can be helpful: evening primrose oil, omega-3 essential fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin B Complex, vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, vitamin C with bioflavonoids, folic acid, lecithin, zinc, and a multimineral supplement. Taking hydrochloric acid (HCL) with each meal can also be of use.

In Europe fumaric acid treatment in the form of fumaric acid tablets, ointment, lotion, and scalp lotions is widely used to reverse symptoms of psoriasis

Topical Treatment: Apply seawater to the affected skin several times daily. Linseed or avocado oil, aloe vera gel, and/or capsaicin cream applied topically can reduce the scaling, thickness, redness, and itching.

Best of health to you

How can you make your hair grow faster?
Q. I'm trying to grow my hair out long and, being the impatient person I am, I'd like to know a way to make it grow faster. Also, I'd like for it be stronger and smoother. I tend to have a lot of little fly-aways that drive me crazy. I've heard that prenatal vitamins are good for making your hair grow, but are they safe to take if you aren't pregnant? Thanks in advance for your help!

A. If you want to add length to your hair, you can use hair extensions.

Prenatal vitamins will not harm you in any way if you use them and are not pregnant.

While there is no proven way to make hair grow, the less hair you lose the more you have, right?

Be nice to your hair. Your hair falls out naturally on its own, but you might be pulling it out a little faster with the things you do. The gentler you are with your hair, the less of it you'll yank out.

* Don't pull your hair into tight ponytails or cornrows. Use butterfly clips and loose braids instead.

* Brush it carefully. If you have wavy or curly hair, you should use a wide tooth comb while your hair is still wet, since brushes can disrupt curl pattern and cause frizz.

Try to avoid tangles by not piling your hair on the top of your head when you lather it in the shower--when you roll it all up into a ball like that, there's more of a chance of tangling. Right before brushing, use your fingers to gently comb through your hair. And when you brush, start at the ends, and hold the strand that you're brushing with your other hand so that if you pull on the hair with a brush, you don't pull on the root (you pull from the grip of your hand instead).

* Minimize how much you style your hair. Any kind of styling that involves pulling your hair at the root (blow drying straight, straight iron, curling iron, rollers) will contribute to hair loss.

* Avoid or minimize chemical treatments like dyes, tints, bleaches, straighteners, and permanent waves. These weaken your hair and increase the likelihood of breakage and loss.

Take a daily multivitamin. Your body needs several building blocks in order to produce a healthy head of hair, and you can easily meet your body's requirement by taking a multivitamin consistently. Keep in mind, however, that it can take several months to notice the results, so don't get discouraged.

* Research suggests that iron deficiency makes hair loss worse. Women with heavy periods are at a higher risk of iron deficiency. However, unless you have an iron deficiency diagnosed by a doctor, you shouldn't take iron supplements. They can upset your stomach and cause severe constipation, and iron overload can be dangerous. Taking a multivitamin and eating iron-rich foods (tofu, lentils, beans, oysters, spinach, prunes, raisins, lean beef) is more than enough.

* If you're a vegetarian, eat foods rich in Vitamin C whenever you eat iron-rich veggies. Vitamin C will help your body absorb the kind of iron that is found in vegetables.

Avoid dramatic weight loss. As you shed pounds, you shed hair. The dramatic changes that your body undergoes when it loses weight quickly (the change in nutrients, the stress involved) can cause your hair to thin. Diets low in protein and iron (e.g. very low-fat) and also those high in protein but low in fruits and vegetables (e.g. Atkins) that result in dramatic weight loss can also trigger significant hair loss. Instead, keep a balanced diet, and focus on gradual calorie reduction (one or two pounds a week).

* Each hair on your head grows for 2-5 years, slows down for about six weeks, and rests for 3-5 months before falling out so a new hair can grow in its place. Normally, 15% of your hair is at the resting phase, but a sudden change in nutrition can cause some hair follicles in the growing phase to switch into the resting phase prematurely, possibly raising the percentage to more than 30%.

Relax. Stress is a common cause of reversible hair loss. When you experience physical or emotional turmoil, it can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 4 months for the results to show up in your hair.

What vitamin is important for hair treatment/growth?
Q. I'm just basically asking what vitamin is good for hair in general.
I have no problems with hair loss, just hair rebuild/treatment after damage.

You can answer short and simple, but prefer some source, so I know at least it's reliable :)

A. A vitamin is a chemical which , when deficient in the diet, causes a characteristic disease or affliction - eg vitamin C deficiency causes scurvy

Taking additional vitamins in the absence of a medically diagnoses deficiency is medically pointless

Adding vitamins to shampoos (especially water soluble vitamins such biotin or vitamin C) and claiming it helps hair in any way is fraud

Taking biotin especially is ludicrous - your body produce far more biotin than it can use - the excess (including any tablets) is excreted in the urine

Does Lysine supplements work for canker sores?
Q. I use lysine vitamin supplements for cold sores, but does it also work for canker sores? I have been getting canker sores very frequently and would love some recommendations on what helps speed the healing faster.

A. Canker sores are NOT contagious and can appear as a single pale or yellow ulcer with a red outer ring, or as a cluster of such lesions. The cause of canker sores is not entirely clear, but may be related to:

A virus
A temporary weakness in your immune system (for example, from cold or flu)
Hormonal changes
Mechanical irritation
Stress
Low levels of vitamin B12 or folate

They suggest this treatment:

For canker sores:

Rinse with salt water.
Apply a thin paste of baking soda and water.
Mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide with 1 part water and apply this mixture to the lesions using a cotton swab

I agree with you on using the Lysine for cold sores but, you might try the above for canker sores. In addition, try adding some B12 & Folic Acid to your supplement list for a while & see if that helps.

Here's some further info on canker sore help:

When canker sores erupt, turn to one or more of the following supplements. First try lysine -- a deficiency in this amino acid has been associated with canker sores. Echinacea strengthens the immune system, and lower doses of this herb (200 mg each morning, three weeks a month) may also prevent cankers from forming. Another immune-booster, vitamin C helps heal the mouth's mucous membranes; flavonoids are natural compounds that enhance the effectiveness of this vitamin. Licorice (DGL) wafers coat and protect sores from irritants and help them heal. Goldenseal in liquid form applied directly to the sore also promotes healing. Instead of DGL or goldenseal, you may want to try zinc lozenges to speed healing and boost your resistance. People who get canker sores frequently may be deficient in B vitamins; a daily vitamin B complex is useful as a preventive.

Hope this info helps!

How do I convince my parents to take me to the doctor for a vitamin B deficiency test?
Q. My parents don't really take me seriously but I have a lot of the symptoms and I rarely eat meat. I have heart palpitations, fatigue, exhaustion, nervousness, restlessness, tingling in my legs and feet, soreness, crawling sensation in my leg muscles when I sit, and recently my slow word recall has worsened. Also, I run track and I know my shoes fit properly, but when I run my toes become numb. Do you have any suggestions on how I can convince my parents I'm not just making things up?

A. Just tell them you're having all these symptoms, and ask if they'll take you to a doctor. Don't say you want a vitamin b deficiency test. Parents and dr.'s hate it when you diagnose yourself.

Are Cold hands and feet related to Vitamin B Deficiency?
Q. I had my blood taken because my hands and feet are always cold, and my doctor says that I lacked glutamate, antioxidants and severely lack Vitamin B. Can the my deficiency of Vitamin B be the cause because my doctor says it is so I'm taking B supplements with Multivitamins and a Vitamin B shot every week. So could it really be the cause because I don't get how Vitamin B is linked to cold hands and feet.

A. Peripheral vascular disease or peripheral artery disease can have an association with vitamin B deficiency - often Vitamin B12, your symptoms also sound like Raynaud's syndrome which is not usually associated with B deficiency.

You would probably be better off taking the best quality of each nutritional supplement rather than a multivitamin as some of the ingredients work in synergy but others should not be taken within the same 45 minute time frame. For example vitamin E complex, CoQ10, Vitamin C complex can be taken together and function well as powerful antioxidants.

Are you getting a B12 shot or a B complex shot (not familiar with that one)

Are you sure your doctor said you lacked glutamate and not glutathione, a very powerful anti-oxidant? Low Glutatione levels are not unusual in people with a serious disease. B complex is necessary for Glutathione function so the Vit B complex shots would make sense. Vitamin B6 helps convert the precursors to the protein Glutathione.
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-glutathione-deficiency.htm

Other supplements which might help include alpha lipoic acid and.n-acetylcysteine (NAC) which can sometimes be found in one capsule. Glutathione can be taken by injection - very expensive - or sublingually - some people are intolerant of this method because the feel a burning sign. Taken in swallowed pill form, glutatione is broken down before it can be assimilated and is worthless. That is why you need the precursors or their aides.

At first I thought Raynaud's syndrome but the deficiencies dont jibe.

I hope this helps - please remember that many multivitamins don't deliver the best form of the nutritional supplement you need.

In the meanwhile be are that there are special gloves and probably socks for Raynaud's syndrome which also features cold hands and feet.

how long will vitamin deficiency symptoms last?
Q. I have been on vitamin b complex for a month, and started amultivitamin 3 days ago. I have been getting rapid heartbeat and severe restless feelings. I have been tested for almost everything else it could be and I really think it is a deficiency. The first few days I took the vit b complex my symptoms totally dissapeared, but came back. Will it take awhile fo rthe symptoms to disappear? Help please.

A. .rapid heart beat can mean allergy. Also a calcium/magnesium deficiency might be a problem. When you take B vitamins you must take cal/mag.Restlessness sounds like calcium might help.Try a supplement 1000mg cal/500mag.

Osteoporosis, a condition characterized by reduced bone mineral density and increased bone fragility.
Muscle aches and weakness (in particular proximal limb girdle)
Muscle twitching (Fasciculations)

How much is it to get my little turtle treated for swollen eyes?
Q. I noticed last night that one of the two had its eyes swollen, today it got better. They have right temperature, but don't get much sunlight lately cause it's too cloudy. Anyhow, if the swollen eyes come back, I want to try to get it to the vet. How much could this cost to cure it with antibiotics if it's an infection or with vitamin A injection for vitamin deficiency?

A. Before you do anything, try feeding the turtles liver. If the problem is a vitamin A deficiency, that should correct it and continued feeding will prevent recurrence. If the problem is an infection or irritation, try irrigating the eyes with a solution of boric acid. If neither treatment works, call your vet to ask about costs. I trust that you have found a reptile vet.

Why is my hair thick at the top and thin aT the bottom?
Q. It just recently happened, well a couple of weeks ago I suffered from dehydration and some vitamin deficiency, could it be that???..... Yes I iron my hair but not on 400 usually around 300. I also put my hair in ponytails alot but this never happened before so I don't think it's the ponytail. Hellppppp mee!! What can I do to fix this problem?

A. Sounds like you need a good conditioning treatment to strengthen that hair. Vitamin def and dehyd. can definitely affect your hair, and using a very hot flat iron can destroy the ends. I would advise a good light trim and condition treatment from your local salon, and continue to use a good conditioner until you notice a difference in your hair, then only use it a couple times a week.

My fingernails seem to be getting softer and thinner and want to know the reason why?
Q. I have always done the jello thing for stronger nails. What else can I do and also could this be a vitamin deficiency?

A. It could perhaps be a vitamin deficiency but calcium is also needed to keep nails strong so try drinking lots of milk and calcium enriched products. There are also speacial treatments that you can probably get from local nail care specialists that can help your nails become stronger. if you see no improvenet after a few weeks go to your doctor.

What are health problems or symptoms that could cause a person with osteoporosis to seek medical care?

Q.

A. There are no symptoms in the early stages of the disease.
Symptoms occurring late in the disease include:--
* Bone pain or tenderness
* Fractures with little or no trauma
* Loss of height (as much as 6 inches) over time
* Low back pain due to fractures of the spinal bones
* Neck pain due to fractures of the spinal bones
* Stooped posture or kyphosis, also called a "dowager's hump"
Osteoporotic bone fractures are responsible for considerable pain, decreased quality of life, lost workdays, and disability. Up to 30% of patients suffering a hip fracture will require long-term nursing-home care. Elderly patients can develop pneumonia and blood clots in the leg veins that can travel to the lungs (pulmonary embolism) due to prolonged bed rest after the hip fracture. Osteoporosis has even been linked with an increased risk of death. Some 20% of women with a hip fracture will die in the subsequent year as an indirect result of the fracture. In addition, once a person has experienced a spine fracture due to osteoporosis, he or she is at very high risk of suffering another such fracture in the near future (next few years). About 20% of postmenopausal women who experience a vertebral fracture will suffer a new vertebral fracture of bone in the following year.

Osteopenia: Differentiating Osteoporosis and Osteomalacia
Osteopenia is decreased bone mass. Two metabolic bone diseases decrease bone mass: osteoporosis and osteomalacia. In osteoporosis, bone mass decreases, but the ratio of bone mineral to bone matrix is normal. In osteomalacia, the ratio of bone mineral to bone matrix is low.
Osteoporosis results from a combination of low peak bone mass, increased bone resorption, and impaired bone formation. Osteomalacia is due to impaired mineralization, usually because of severe vitamin D deficiency or abnormal vitamin D metabolism (see Vitamin Deficiency, Dependency, and Toxicity: Vitamin D). Osteoporosis is much more common than osteomalacia in the US. The 2 disorders may coexist, and their clinical expression is similar; moreover, mild to moderate vitamin D deficiency can occur in osteoporosis.

What population group is at highest risk for osteomalacia?
Q. a. Infants
b. Elderly men
c. Adult women
d. Children ages 2-12 years

A. Osteomalacia is vitamin D deficiency (and the spectrum of symptoms that causes.) It's commonly due to lack of sunlight exposure... and women generally have higher demands for vit D. So I'd say adult women are most at risk. Also note that in parts of the world where women are covered from head to toe, there's extremely high risk of vit D deficiency.

Elderly men (and women) may have elevated risk, as well. This is mostly due to decreased absorption (food sources) that frequently occurs as we age.

Among infants and children, vit D deficiency is called Rickets. Osteomalacia is adults only.

What population group is at highest risk for osteomalacia?
Q. a. Infants
b. Elderly men
c. Adult women
d. Children ages 2-12 years

A. The condition called Osteomalacia is one where there is a significant softening of the bones in your body. It is usually caused by a vitamin D deficiency. In children, this condition is known as rickets. The concern is that Soft bones are more likely to bow and fracture than harder, more healthy bones.

This is similar, yet different from, osteoporosis, which is a another bone disorder that can also cause bone fracturing. Osteomalacia occurs when the bone-building process in our bodies does not perform correctly, while osteoporosis develops later because of a weakening of previously constructed bone.

Some of the symptoms of osteomalacia are achy pain in the bones and muscle weakness. Typically treatment involves increasing the amount of Vitamin D and calcium in addition to treating any underlying disorders that may be contributing to the deficiencies.

People who have both inadequate dietary intake of vitamin D and little exposure to sunlight have the highest risk of developing this disorder. Therefore the risk is highest in older adults as well as those who rarely get outdoors such as people who are housebound or hospitalized.

Insufficient sunlight is the cause of many problems. Sunlight is truly indispensable to our good health and peace of mind. Many people hide from the sun and deny themselves of the suns healing powers. They fear the suns damaging ultra-violet rays. History tells us the human race evolved and thrived under the light and energy of the sun.

Call for an appointment with your health care provider if you have symptoms of osteomalacia, or if you think that you may be at risk for this disorder.

Is it normal to feel cold in 70 degrees?
Q. It is 70 degrees outside and my freind is cold. She is bundled up in a long sleeved shirt, a scarf, and a jacket and still shivering. Is this normal?

A. absolutely not normal 70's are "perfect". theirs no reason why she should be cold (well not a normal reason) ok it could be a number of things. These include but arent limited to:Anemia (low blood count, especially common in menstruating women with significant monthly blood loss);
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar);
Age (the very young or elderly may have more difficulty with body temperature regulation); (but i don't think it's that lol)
Exposure to cool or cold environments without proper protection;
Stress or anxiety;
Poor health or infections such as the common cold, leukemia, lupus, bladder infection, septicemia (blood infection), hepatitis, Menkes disease, decreased immune function and others;
Malnutrition;
Gallstones (chills and sweating, along with pain);
Medications (potential side effects from narcotic pain relievers, beta interferons, others);
Anorexia nervosa (poor nutrition, anemia, very low body weight, fatigue);
Allergic reaction;
Uncontrolled diabetes;
Bvitamin complex deficiency (may increase cold sensitivity).

(feeling cold is one of the symptom)

Feeling Cold

Anemia can make you feel cold all the time, even in a warm room.

What patients said:

"I notice sometimes I get really cold, I get chills."

"Sometimes I get really, really cold. It could be hot, and I'd be cold."
Chills can occur with an infection, making you shiver and feel cold even though your body temperature may be normal or even elevated. Chills can happen to anyone and are most common at the start or end of an infection. Chills with a normal or elevated temperature should not be treated with warm clothing or blankets, as this can raise the body temperature to a dangerous level.

If your body temperature falls below the normal range, even by just a few degrees, you have hypothermia. Hypothermia can be dangerous, especially the farther your body temperature falls. If your temperature falls below 96 degrees, you should seek immediate medical care. You can treat mild or severe hypothermia until help arrives by warming the person slowly with blankets and making sure the person is dry.

When you are very sensitive to cold weather, you may have cold intolerance. Cold intolerance can be a sign that your body has a hard time warming itself. Common causes of cold intolerance include anorexia, anemia and hypothyroidism. If you find even mildly temperatures difficult to bear, you should contact your health care provider.now i said it's "absolutely not normal " but let me clarify in 70 degrees isn't cold but it's not hot-now to me 70s you don't need a coat or jacket. but to have long sleeves scarf and a jacket and still cold! i don't think it's normal. hope i help
